Adults (16+) 4 sessions Teaching Artist: Anna Freeman CLASS SCHEDULE: Sunday, May 17 1:00–4:00 PM Sundays, May 31–June 14 1:00–3:00 PM Members $145; Nonmembers $160 Get inspired by playful forms and everyday objects as you explore the fundamentals of slip casting. In this beginner-friendly ceramics class, you’ll learn how to prepare and use plaster molds, mix and pour casting slip, and experiment with surface treatments to personalize your pieces. Students will create functional or sculptural forms while gaining a solid understanding of this accessible, repeatable ceramic process. No experience necessary, though this is also a great skill-building class for experienced ceramicists looking to expand their repertoire. For the first class, students are asked to bring a simple object to cast—suggested items include a tin can, a smooth bowl, or a plain, handleless cup with a slight taper (wider at the rim than the base). If you’re unsure, bring a few objects and the instructor will happily help you choose the best one for casting! All other materials are provided. Finished artworks will be kiln- and glaze-fired, and participants will be notified when their pieces are ready for pickup.
