A joint exhibition exploring cyanotype, ink, and photography, showing how light, process, and material can transform an image. Free and open to the public.
Join us as we partner with Tidewater Community College Visual Arts + Design Center to present "Ink & Exposure", a joint exhibition by Michal Mitak Mahgerefteh, Heather Mitcham and Victor Perotti. "Ink & Exposure" explores the expressive possibilities of cyanotype, ink and photography and the ways that light, process, and material can transform an image. Free & open to the public. All ages welcome. Michal Mitak Mahgerefteh Norfolk, Virginia based mixed media artist and poet whose creative journey spans over two decades in both visual and literary arts. Michal’s work emerges from a place of memory, movement, and meditation—often inspired by her Moroccan heritage, nature’s quiet rhythms, and the interior landscapes shaped by womanhood, spirituality, and resilience. “I blend floral motifs and swirling circular patterns, layering digital collage with watercolor, pastel, and ink. Whether honoring ancestral roots, capturing the shifting light of a fall afternoon, or exploring altered states of being, each piece is a conversation between the seen and the sensed.” https://www.mitak-art.com/inkart Heather Mitcham Virginia Beach based printmaker, Heather Mitcham, finds the printmaking process to “nestle snugly into her busy life.” Heather refers to her cyanotypes and paper marbling's as “cyano-experiments”. Her process involves a playfulness and unexpectedness that leads to a curiosity driven workflow that produces compelling, mysterious shapes and patterns that draw the viewer in. As chemical reactions occur and the cyanotype solution is exposed, moments become frozen within each print. https://linkbio.co/HeatherLenArt Victor Perrotti Virginia Beach based photographer, Victor Perrotti is a collector of light. He seeks to find connections between varied juxtaposed elements and attempts to capture those that take the form of oscillating objects yearning for an expansive environment. With an affinity for the natural world, Victor aims to challenge the viewer to reevaluate their presuppositions and feel what it is like to view things from outside. “I am building a new reality; a reality that is the viewers invitation to introspection.” https://victorperrotti.com/ On view October 24 - December 4 every day except for Sundays.
