Sing America: The Great American SongbookÂ
Some songs don't just entertain — they endure. They live in the places we've been, the people we've loved, and the moments we can't forget. Our Voice: The Great American Songbook is an evening of exactly those songs, brought to life by three extraordinary vocalists and the Tidewater Winds Big Band.
Sopranos Danielle Roby and Annamarie Smith-Butz, and baritone Frank Cubillo guide us through the golden era of American popular music. From the sparkling wit of Cole Porter's Anything Goes and the tender romance of Jerome Kern's The Way You Look Tonight, to the smoldering cool of Love for Sale and the jubilant swing of Get Happy, the evening moves with the effortless grace of music that was simply built to last.
Danielle dazzles with Gershwin classics including They Can't Take That Away from Me and Embraceable You, while Frank channels the easy elegance of the Sinatra songbook through Nice Work if You Can Get It, Watch What Happens, and One for My Baby. Annamarie channels the spirit of Ella Fitzgerald in luminous performances of Blue Skies, All of Me, and Old Devil Moon. The three voices unite in memorable duets and ensemble moments — including a rollicking Too Darn Hot, a soulful Over the Rainbow, and the swinging finale of Mambo Italiano.
Highlights of the evening include a special celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Route 66, the timeless sweep of Every Time We Say Goodbye, and the warm, familiar glow of The Very Thought of You.
Backed by the swinging precision of the Tidewater Winds Big Band, this is a night to remember — a love letter to the composers, lyricists, and performers who gave America its voice.
