70 classroom hours (35 online, 35 classroom/lab) This course facilitates entry level training for Phlebotomy Technicians or those seeking the medical training necessary to pursue the knowledge and skills necessary to perform in a medical laboratory environment. Through this training, students will gain the confidence and knowledge needed in the art of obtaining blood samples through repeated venipuncture, hands-on practice and instructor feed-back. Students are provided instruction on collecting, transporting, and processing of blood specimens, communication, medical terminology, safety and precautions for blood specimen collection, factors that may affect specimen collection, quality control, professional behaviorism, inflectional control and the legal aspects for the phlebotomy practice. PREREQUISITE: Please refer to mandatory preregistration requirements above. PLEASE NOTE: Students must wear a white uniform, white shoes, and a watch with a second hand.
