Description

Join us for a lively Jewish Lore workshop with Miriam Anzovin, the digital creator behind the beloved #JewishLoreReactions series on TikTok and Instagram. With humor, curiosity, and deep textual insight, Anzovin brings ancient Jewish stories into conversation with modern life. This session spotlights one of the most fascinating figures in Jewish tradition: Serach bat Asher.

Often described in midrash as immortal, wise, and ever-present, Serach bat Asher is a keeper of collective memory and a witness to Jewish history from the Exodus onward. In this workshop, Anzovin explores the rich web of legends surrounding Search including her role in revealing Joseph’s fate, her connection to music and storytelling, and her enduring presence across generations.

As Anzovin puts it: “The Angel of Death was pretty salty about ‘the ones who got away’—the VIPs in Jewish lore who ascended to heaven while still alive. But that’s his beef, not mine.” Welcome to the saga of her favorite immortal, the personification of memory, music, and storytelling in Judaism.

Come learn, laugh, and dig into Jewish lore. Lunch is on us.

Free and open to the community. Preregistration is required. >> JewishVA.org/Serach
